Sikkuy-Aufoq - For a Shared and Equal Society (R.A)

Dr. Sharaf Hassan is a sociologist, educator, and social and political activist. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Tel Aviv University. His doctoral thesis focused on civil society organizations and the struggle for hegemony in the teaching of civics in the Israeli school system. Between 2019-2021, he was a fellow at the Mandel School for Educational Leadership, and previously served as the Director of the Education Department at the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, as a teaching fellow in the Sociology Department at Tel Aviv University, and as a Civics teacher at Al-Khwarizmi School in Tamra.

Since 2021, he has been working as a lecturer at Oranim College and currently heads the Sociology Department at the college.

Dr. Hassan has served as the head of the Follow-Up Committee on Arab Education (a professional and representative body in Arab society working to advance education in the Arab community) since 2018.

His research and areas of interest include the Arab minority in Israel, civil society, education system, social inequality and marginalized populations, citizenship education in Israel, democracy, racism, multiculturalism, and comparative research.
